Every price DeckForge shows starts as a national rule-of-thumb compiled from public retail pricing, last reviewed 2026-01-01. Fill in the rates you know and estimates use yours instead. Leave the rest blank — a partly filled book is normal, and the estimate says how much of it is still the built-in figure.

Estimates will show a range of about ±30%. That range never closes, however many rates you fill in: the quantities are still a takeoff — rough lengths plus a waste allowance, not a cut list — so the figure is an estimate, not a cost. Confirm against a supplier quote before committing.

DeckForge estimates the crew-hours a deck takes from its own geometry — footings, posts, area, guard length, risers — using published production rates for a two-person crew on an accessible site.
It does not estimate what an hour costs. That is a fact about your business in your market, and there is no honest default to fill in. Set your rate and the hours get a dollar figure; leave it blank and you still get the hours.
A price book is what you believe you pay — it is not a supplier quote, and DeckForge never labels it as one.
